Yeah, that's what I'm probably gonna end up doing. It just seems like I'm soo close to get it booting, I figured I just needed to run some commands to rebuild the kernel or the grub or something..

Instead of trying to clone the system at the block level, why not just
clone the system at the file level with rsync or tar?
