If it has to be open source, check out Ardour.  http://www.ardour.org/

I would urge you to not be stuck on FOSS for this application.  Music is
a competitive area where all effort should be focused on creative use of
innovative tools, not systems programming.

Ableton and Reason are widely used, and are compatible with all the
latest control surfaces and creative workflows.  I'm quite a FOSS
advocate myself, and I know its strengths, but digital media creation is
not one of them right now.
