[PLUG] Mailman with Exchange SMTP

I'm looking into moving some of our more informal work lists from
Exchange to mailman. Mailman has much more in the way of individual
list configuration than Exchange. A couple of months ago, I tried to
throw up a mailman server, and ran into problems connecting it to the
Exchange MTA as opposed to postfix or sendmail.

Has anyone set this up successfully?

Is there a distro which may support this better than others?

A virtual appliance?
