Try Kubuntu. The desktop version is basically upstream KDE as far as I can tell. And this version of KDE is finally mature version 4.
If you load the same version on a netbook, it detects that, and loads that interface, which, for me, is much better than Unity.

Me three.
I used SuSE until the KDE 3.5 -> 4.0 debacle. I jumped to Ubuntu and have come to really appreciate Ubuntu and especially the Debian package management system - even if Gnome lacked KDE's flexibility. Now I'm using 10.04 LTS and I dread moving to Unity. I installed it on a laptop a few weeks ago and was I not impressed at all.
I'm going to try Kubuntu in a VM this week. LinuxMint looks nice but does seem to be too "Windows-like." I'm not sure where to go from here but Unity is a deal-breaker for me.
