It has been a while since 0.26 for me, but I think on most distros it
was straightforward.  I do remember that a past upgrade (not sure if
it was 0.26 or 0.25) had an issue with the default Gentoo mysql
character set settings.  It wasn't a horrible upgrade, but you did
have to take care and run some scripts to clean up the database.

For the most part 0.26 and 0.27 have "just worked" for me.  Granted,
since I maintain the Gentoo packages I tend to update them monthly
from the fixes branch, so the upgrades are fairly minor when they
happen.
