My mother-in-law had the same situation a year ago.
We had reservations but agreed to the free upgrade. She has never been
pushed to pay any more money or accept additional services.
However her house mostly had the old two prong receptacles.
After disconnecting her old service, tech announced we had to provide a
three prong grounded receptacle. I was able to do that quickly & plug in
the FIOS equipment the next day but many people would have had to call an
