What about chromebooks?  A significant number of cheap to high-end laptops are shipping with Linux (Chromeos).  Admittedly its stripped down Linux that is targetted at being a web-appliance, but that is not hard to change.  The keyboard on chromebooks also leaves a little to be desired, but there is absolutely no microsoft tax :)
