Re: [PLUG] LAMP opportunity

Keith,

Thanks for the update.

I only got this through email but the from the description, it sounds like they want a solid Linux admin AND a competent LAMP dev.  That would certainly command a higher salary but as we all know, 1) companies almost always ask for more than they are willing to pay for and 2) companies don't necessarily understand the FOSS professional- i.e. in our world learning and experimentation is much more regular compared to certification chasers.

Considering Oracle is needed instead of MySQL, I would say the required dba knowledge is higher too (not that you don't need that for MySQL but Oracle is not the easiest application to use).  My frame of reference on Oracle is circa 2005 so it might be better in a Linux environment today.

Overall, this sounds like at least a mid-level position but anyone interested that has confidence in what is being requested I would encourage to contact me.  It's not it will hurt to find out more.  :)

But I'm liked or something!

Also, this sounds like a pretty decent opportunity for someone. Are they looking for someone that is willing to learn a bit or do they need someone like now, Keith?
