Re: [PLUG] Desktop Support ? |
thank you for your prompt responses to my inquiry. i will do my best to describe the issues i'm having. it's two primary issues with two different machines:
I have a netbook- asus eeepc that runs Lubuntu. It crashed a while ago when I forgot to plug it in. It had a very hard time starting back up. I ran whatever diagnostics/repair file that comes with the program and it was able to start up again eventually.
each time upon start up now it automatically runs a disk check and finds a damaged file that it cannot repair. i have to enter "I" to ignore this and it continues start up as normal. however- the machine runs ridiculously slow and freezes up all the time. even for very simple tasks such as switching between tabs in a web browser or opening a OO document while also having a web browser open.the 2nd machine is a dell latitude E6510 that runs Xubuntu. it worked fine until we changed the password on our wireless- now it cannot connect to the internet. i went into the settings- network connections menu and found the tab for our network and entered the new password. i can see the box checked that says "automatically connect to this network when it is available" and i know it is available because i am connected to it with the eeepc. the only other potential clue i have with this one- upon start up a dialogue box appears that says "Networks Available- Use the Network Menu to connect with a Wireless Network" I have searched but cannot find the "Network Menu" that is referred to here.thanks once again- any help is greatly appreciated !--On Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 7:49 AM, Anthony Martin <anthony.j.martin142@gmail.com> wrote:What exactly is the issue your having?

Not at all - this sort of thing is perfectly acceptable to bring up on
the lists, or during general Q&Q at meetings, and so on. Granted,
there are some limits on how much can be done in these settings but
you're always welcome to ask questions like these.
I'll defer to the Ubuntu users as to what the best way for an
individual to seek support is (paid or otherwise). I'd be surprised
if they didn't answer your questions directly on their
forums/lists/etc though. Gentoo is a lot less newbie-friendly and
questions about problems are more than welcome on our forums and -user
list - I wouldn't be surprised if Unbuntu has paid employees looking
after their Q&A forums.
You're also welcome to just post a question here. Not all of us use
Ubuntu so you might get a more generic answer and less of an
Ubuntu-specific one, but we might be able to point you in the right
direction.
