PLUG North will be meeting on Tuesday, July 12 at CoreDial's offices in Blue Bell, beginning at 6:30 pm. Directions to the meeting location can be found at the end of this email. This month, Ronald P. Guilmet will present a talk on Amazon Web Services, and will build a highly-available, fault-tolerant application environment during the presentation. The app used for the demonstration will be a WordPress installation using Amazon's Relational Database Service (RDS). The database will be setup with multi availability zones AZ, for high availability and fault tolerance. The demo will also show how to: - Use Amazon CloudFront as a CDN, caching the static files around the world for improved latency - Use the W3 Total Cache plugin, which will automatically update the CloudFront CDN files - Create a skeleton Amazon Machine Image (AMI) - Bootstrap with Auto Scaling, which will automatically create or terminal Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) as the load increases or decreases - Configure Route53 to handle the DNS and support failover https://aws.amazon.com/ http://ronguilmet.com/ At 6:30, prior to the main meeting, we'll assemble in CoreDial's game room for shuffleboard, pool, and conversation The meeting will take place from 6:30-9pm (6:30-7 games and conversation, 7-8 General Q&A, 8-9 Presentation) at CoreDial's new office space in Blue Bell, PA.
