I'm running Kubuntu 16.04 LTS on this one:

The only thing that doesn't work is the function key combo for the screen backlight control so I have to adjust it from the menubar widget (the battery icon). Keyboard backlight controls do work (but they can also be adjust via the same widget).
After a recent update there now is a problem with resuming from "suspend to ram" but this is a typical dance when it comes to new laptops. Eventually it all works out but that has been annoying me recently.
Also, its only 12Gb of RAM so if you really need 16Gb then its a no go for you but I do like the size and weight on this unit. I should also mention that the touchscreen does work well if that is something that interests you (I don't use it that much but it is responsive and smooth).

Subject: [PLUG] Linux laptop
Well, please troll me for saying so, but I just can't justify the cost of a new macbook pro. I have gotten pretty spoiled though - they work pretty well out of the box.
But. Mine has finally shit the bed and I'm looking to replace it with a linux machine that meets the following criteria:
durable case / body / ports- I ride my bike everywhere and bring my computer with me
13" - 15" fhd - 4k screen
16gb ram
300+ gb ssd
bluetooth
will run latest ubuntu out of the box, or without too much hair pulling
I'd like to be able to push code tomorrow, I can't spend a week futzing with drivers...
If anyone has a recommendation, or a machine for sale I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
