Nothing special about the Pixel firmware. It’s bog-standard AOSP, just has some additional Google-provided binaries preloaded (almost all userspace ones). The really “special” thing about Pixel from a tinkerer’s perspective is that it’s the only device that runs the upstream opened source 100% unmodified. No changes to the public AOSP code necessary to compile and run it on Pixels. Reference hardware.

the Pixel line of firmware doesn't even use a Linux kernel, right? or no
GNU userland... something like that, i thought i recalled hearing.
