Re: [PLUG] Backup & restore music parodies |
JP, Those may be the 2 funniest videos I've ever seen! In a "sad, but true" kind of way. Been there. Done that. A couple months into my first job out of college, I lost everything I'd done for the past 2 weeks. Disk crash on a VAX. Yes, the ops guys had been doing backups, but no, they were not able to do a restore. Doh!!! I've spent the last 36 years making sure it never happens to me again. My latest solution is: - http://bristle.com/Tips/Unix.htm#rsync_full_and_incremental_backup I've now updated an existing with links to these 2 videos: - http://bristle.com/Tips/Unix.htm#rsync_easy_recovery_from_rsync_backup Just what I needed to brighten my day. These are arguably a bit OT, but the guy behind them wrote the great O'Reilly _Backup & Restore_ book that covers mostly open source tools.
