Re: [PLUG] Facetime

Google had the option to follow Apple’s example and keep updates close to their hands, and they gave it away for an early lead instead. Now that early decision to give away OS update control, app update control, and QA/approval of hardware has come back to bite them. They tried to take it back by refusing to allow Google Play services on super-low-end knockoff devices from China, but it didn’t work, and now the crows have come home to roost. Apple took a stand early on and *forced* the carriers to allow Apple’s top-down heavy handed control, but look where it has them now? Ahead and accelerating.

As long as the carrier has control over updates, Android will always lag behind in updates.

No need. Apple has disabled Group Facetime for everyone, until the updated firmware becomes available later this week.

And if we’re going to take cheap shots, I’ll point out that my LG V20 hasn’t gotten software updates in any meaningful way since late 2018, and it never will, but my much older iPhone 6S Plus will be getting the latest IOS later this week.

While I agree that Android has a superior ideology and philosophy, I feel the execution has been terrible, and remains so.

Turn it off. Now.
You can be monitored w/o answering the phone.

I tried to bribe my employer to give me an android, but nooooo.
Same result for putting the One True OS on desktops.

Speaking of the Redmond Menace, IE 10 goes bye bye in 2020, IE 11
recommended. Of course none of us would use it anyway...
