I have heard that before- its the opposite side of the repeaters being "dead".

Quick point...  One of the nice things about the Brandmeister DMR network is that you can see where the activity is:

and then you can listen to an active talkgroup via the links here:

https://www.pistar.uk/dmr_bm_talkgroups.php

If you're into nets you can look up net schedules and listen to the ones carried on BM.
