[PLUG] [plug-announce] Mon July 15 - PLUG West - "The Phoronix Test Suite" by Adam Schaible (7pm at ATS) |
The Philadelphia Area Linux Users Group (PLUG) cordially invites you to a PLUG West meeting on Monday, July 15 at ATS in Malvern, PA from 7-9 pm. This month, PLUG West welcomes Adam Schaible, who will be giving a talk entitled "The Phoronix Test Suite". The Phoronix Test Suite (PTS) is a comprehensive hardware performance and benchmarking tool that allows system builders and administrators to perform system burn-in tasks and test hardware/software configurations. All major computer subsystems - CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and networking - can be tested using one of dozens of different, highly configurable test modules, all available from a single management interface. Detailed reports can be automatically generated and (optionally) submitted online for comparison purposes. Test modules consist primarily of free or open-source executables though some support for proprietary modules also exists. PTS is available in all major Linux repositories as well as the Docker Hub and has also been ported to other OSes. This presentation will cover the installation and configuration of PTS, as well as a short demonstration of some of its most popular test modules. Interested in Linux, BSD, and Free Software? Whether you're already an enthusiast or want to learn more, come and join us! PLUG meetings are free and open to everyone, and anyone who is curious is invited to attend. The meeting will be at the ATS office in Malvern, PA: ATS Group & IBM Innovation Center 1200 Atwater Drive, Suite 170 Malvern, Pennsylvania 19355 For driving directions, please visit http://www.phillylinux.org/locations/ats.html For more information about PLUG, please visit our website at http://www.phillylinux.org
