I have been using SyncThing for four years. It syncs files
between computers in a peer-to-peer fashion. I also use NextCloud
for centralized storage. FYI, Steve Gibson on the SecurityNow
podcast is researching cloud storage and is planning a show on it
in September or October.

Why
give more information to Google then they already have? Once you
place your data in the cloud they own it. They can do what ever
they like with it except outright delete it. Sure there are SLA
and other agreements in place but do you really know what they are
doing with your data once it is on their servers? Do you think
you can prove what that they copied it to another system for
analysis or for that matter take the time and costs of such an
venture? They know that you cannot afford it so they will do as
they please.

Also it goes without saying that you could
just use a service like
Dropbox or Google Drive to accomplish this. I take it you don't
want
to use them?

I would highly recommend OwnCloud
<https://owncloud.org/> or NextCloud
<https://nextcloud.com/> for this. They're open source
projects which
essentially give you a self-hosted file server similar to
Google Drive,
Box, Dropbox, etc. They even support real-time collaboration
and federation
between other users so you could share files among them.
Like Will said, will simply need to port forward and use
dynamic dns to get
to it.

Dynamic dns to a port forward on your

I'd like to be able to access my

I've been using the shared files from DWSAgent, but it's
just too slow
as a file server.
Has anybody instituted their own cloud server?
Mine would have to be smart enough to recognize the NAT'd
server behind
my FiOS account.
Suggestions greatly appreciated!
