Re: [PLUG] Fry's going out of business


I remember visiting a Fry's in Silicon Valley about 10 years ago.  They
had an entire aisle of motherboards.   Now this was nirvana for me, but
I wondered how they could make money.  I can't believe these things
carry a typical 50% retail markup, and i would guess that most
motherboards have a product lifetime that is measured in days and weeks,
so they must have had to manage inventory levels VERY closely, or get
stuck with inventory that loses value VERY quickly.

The other thing I noticed was that they seemed to be staffed 100% with
"Big Bang Theory" nerds in white shirts who didn't seem to be finding
the work very rewarding.
