Re: [PLUG] Epson Multi-function Support |
Same thing works with DropBox, similar to the instructions Walt gave for Google Drive. I use it all the time, and DID get rid of my scanner a few years back. In DropBox, you click the "+" icon to add a new document, and choose "Scan document", which activates the camera. Take a picture of the document. It's automatically clipped at the edges, and scaled/transformed to be a rectangle even if you held the camera at an angle. You see a preview, and then choose whether to name and save the file (as JPG or PDF), or to add another page. Nice! And since it's DropBox (much like Google Drive), the scanned file is immediately available on all of your synced devices. So, I scan a doc with my Android phone, then turn to my laptop and file it away among my files. It's actually faster and more convenient than my old scanner was. --Fred ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fred Stluka -- http://bristle.com -- Glad to be of service! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On 7/17/22 5:04 PM, Walt Mankowski via plug wrote:
Hi all,I just wanted to add that both Android <https://support.google.com/drive/answer/3145835?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid> and iOS <https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210336> have the ability to scan documents with their camera apps. (Instructions at the links.) Of course this can't replace a dedicated stand-alone scanner, but if you don't need to scan many documents you might be able to get by with just your phone. I scanned a tax document for my accountant last year and it worked great.Walt On Fri, Jul 15, 2022, at 1:40 PM, David Sokolowsky via plug wrote:Back to my RX-620 (Ubuntu), I've been using Skanlite without issue for a long time. I haven't tried it lately, and don't even remember what exactly didn't work the last time I tried it. I remember thinking that HP would be "safe" since they are so widespread. But living on the edge has its disadvantages. (It also can be a lot more fun!) Earlier AIOs had crappy hardware that broke. I looked at an Epson that flat out wouldn't work (but that was only one example). ymmv Good luck!
