You may want to try disconnecting all the devices you can (including

My guess is that something is overloading the power supply and it is
shutting down as part of the safety system.  If you're lucky, it's
another old drive that is failing and taking too much current.  If
you're unlucky, it's a bad capacitor on the motherboard.

I want to stress again that this is why I brought the box to Micro Center and paid them $40 to test everything out.

There was only one drive that was reported as being bad, and that's now sitting on my desk. It booted up fine with that one installed, but not with it sitting on my desk!

There is one other spinning drive (no errors as of last night) and 2 SSDs in a RAID1. Plus the big honking graphics card, but again it just booted up fine with that installed.

On the other hand, it's a great excuse to build a new system.

You: "Honey, my old computer died and I HAVE to build a new one."

Her: "Why don't you just replace the bad parts?"

You: "The computer is almost 3 months old.  It doesn't make sense to use
all the old stuff, I have to buy all new stuff."

Her:  "OK, I guess you're right.  Go ahead."

You:  $3,000 charge on credit card from New Egg.  Victory!!!!

This box is more like 5 or 6 years old. And if I need to build a new machine, fine. I just was hoping Micro Center could give me some definitive answer about whether or not I had a hardware problem. Instead I have this heisenbug and it's super frustrating.
