Re: [PLUG] It's working! (Was: More hardware woes) |
Perhaps not all it was but this kind of thing can get filed under something that would have changed in your environment. Rich M can explain this much better than I but he helped me with an issue like this before. I think the TL;DR has to deal with conductivity changes in the memory slot. That can happen in a number of ways- including vibration, dust, static electricity build up, etc.. Maybe related to fretting corrosion? (e.g. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/208884472_Overview_of_Fretting_Corrosion_in_Electrical_Connectors) Some people include this step whenever they are working on hardware since it can't hurt. I think it might even be recommended in A+ training. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Keith C. Perry, MS E.E. Yea, that's a thing isn't it. Easy to forget. But if that's all it was, then it wouldn't have booted up for me at home, before it didn't boot up! ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
