Re: [PLUG] Possibly Off-Topic but looking for a "server"

In the message dated: Thu, 26 Jan 2023 13:25:27 -0500,
The pithy ruminations from Steven Grunza via plug on
[[PLUG] Possibly Off-Topic but looking for a "server"] were:
=> Sorry for the possibly off-topic post but over the weekend I became aware
=> that a little-used server in my basement has failed. It's an old AMD K5
=> based system so anything from this millennium will do. Any suggestions on
=> where to pick up a roughly $100 old desktop type box? I seem to recall
=> Microcenter used to have a pile of them stacked up in St. David's store but
=> that was years ago.
=>
=> I'm tempted to just spin the wheel-of-luck and buy one off of ebay but
=> thought I would see if anyone knows of a local source for a used PC.

At $WORK I've got lots of old/used desktop PCs -- mostly Lenovo M92 (i7, 16GB RAM), some Lenovo All-in-One machines, some Dell desktops. I've also got 4x Dell R720(or R710?) servers (2U,
dual Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660, maybe with RAM. At least 25 machines...maybe 40.

Lots of VGA/DVI monitors (LCD, not CRT!), mainly 19" @ 1920x1024, or close.

Maybe some keyboards, almost no mice.

Lots of power, VGA, and DVI cables.

No hard drives.

All the equipment is about 5~10 years old. Located in University City.

Free, preferably to a non-profit, school, or volunteer group, but I would
donate them to individuals as well. The recipient is responsible for
the eventual proper environmental disposal of the equipment.

I may also offer about 10~15x Dell R720s, QLogic fibre SAN switches and ~130TB of Dell Compellent storage as well, located in Delaware.

** Contact me off the list to discuss pickup arrangements. **
