Who are the people/roles not in the same room? The amount and kind of
information needed about the project changes based on what your doing
with it.  If all you need to share with a non collocated person is
overall status, whats the opportunity cost of sharing more detail then
they need?

I think a common pain is when the members of the software development team are not in the same room.


In this case it'd be more than an "overall status" that's necessary, but rather specific information about task assignments and events that effect the project as a whole (from 'server failure' to 'client skipped town' and everything in between).
