As far as I know, why not try reconnecting the floppy drives to the
motherboard floppy controller.  This might help.  I tried to disable my
video card on my box but Linux still saw it.  This is what could be
happining to you.  Also you might want to compile the scsi adaptor
directly into the kernel.  It is a good idea to make a custom kernel
anyway.

What does your boot messages say about the video controler?  Also, can I
assume that your video card is on a PCI bus?  Also look at your
/proc/pci to see how you system sees the video card.

Just use the standard SVGA settings and your monitor should work fine.
