If there is no /etc/mail and you are using the latest sendmail, then somehow the package is misconfigured or even misinstalled. First, I would reinstall it "dpkg -i /path/to/sendmail_8.9.3-1.deb". Then I might try running "sendmailconfig" manually (though the postinst should do this for you). -- Christopher J.
