This is ONLY required if your proxy server is using the general purpose gateway for Winsock applications. MS Proxy can function solely as a CERN-compliant web proxy. The MS Proxy Client is only required if you're suing the Winsock gateway (to support the passing of protocols other than HTTP and FTP). > Since there is no Unix > version of MS Proxy Client I'm stuck for the time > being. The Proxy Client allows your system to talk to the Winsock gateway on the Proxy Server. If your school is using MS Proxy as its proxy server and has it configured to require you to use the MS Proxy Client, your only two optiosn are to a) convince your school not to use the Winsock gateway or b) use an MS platform for outside browsing.
