I've spent HOURS hacking away at ttysnoop today, mostly adding in debuggin messages so I could figure out what the hell was keeping it from working. I finally got it to work after I found one last piece that needed to be changed in /etc/inetd.conf. Then I had a thought. "What if that's *all* that needed to be changed?" So I reinstalled the original, unahcked copy of ttysnoop. AND IT WORKED. AAARGH!!!! Well, here's the difference: my /etc/inetd.conf's telnet line used to look like: telnet stream tcp nowait telnetd.telnetd /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/in.telnetd Now it looks like: telnet stream tcp nowait root.root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/in.telnetd -L /usr/sbin/ttysnoops the "-L /usr/sbin/ttysnoops" stuff is in the docs, but apparently you have to change the user/group from telnetd/telnetd to root/root. WHY DIDN'T ANYBODY FUCKING JUST TELL ME THIS ??? Okay, Tom, add your /dev/tty##'s back (probably w/ mknod), make those changes to your /etc/inetd.conf, and lemme know what happens. Anybody wanna write a quick scirpt to create those /dev/tty##'s & /dev/pty##'s ? __________________________________________________________________ PGP fingerprint = 03 5B 9B A0 16 33 91 2F A5 77 BC EE 43 71 98 D4 darxus@op.net / http://www.op.net/~darxus Find the next largest prime, be famous: http://www.mersenne.org/prime.htm _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
