I do not know if anyone took over the UNIX SIG leadership when I left
PACS. I have not heard of any activity from PACS about Unix or Linux
since I left. My best guess is that it died or atrophied.

I was UNIX SIG leader at PACS from December 1993 to January 1997. My
first article for PACS' monthly newsletter, The Databus,
(http://www.CJFearnley.com/databus/93cfearnl.dec.txt) reminds me of the
days when I was a UNIX novice and reported on my first Linux install:
SLS 1.0.3 with kernel 0.99 patchlevel 13 and Word Perfect barely worked
under the DOS emulator! Oh those were the days! The nostalgia!

Then I reread my January 94 article
(http://www.CJFearnley.com/databus/94cfearnl.jan.txt) where I wrote
about dumping SLS for the new kid on the block: Slackware 1.1.0. And I
observed "the revolution to free operating systems continues"! It only
took Wall Street five years to acknowledge "the revolution"!

BTW, the earliest PLUG announcement that I can find was in the
December 1995 Databus
(http://www.CJFearnley.com/databus/95cfearnl.dec.txt).

For anyone interested in more history, I put all of my Databus articles
at http://www.CJFearnley.com/databus .

I need to get back to work helping the revolution to free operating
systems continue ...
