PostgreSQL and MySQL came up last night duing Leroy's talk. There is a GPL'ed version of MySQL at: http://www.mysql.com/download.html version 3.20.32a The latest proprietary version is 3.23.alpha so they are a little stingy on GPL. PostgreSQL is definitely 100% opensource/GPL in culture, but I recently had a problem with PostgreSQL's lack of support for the ENUM datatype, which MySQL has.
