I don't think it's an X issue.. I had the identical issue.. can't rest the mouse for more than a few seconds..etc, etc. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you have an FIC SD-11 motherboard, with an Athlon Processor? In the BIOS settings, turn off Power Management..
