As a previous poster mentioned, Matrox is always a good choice, however
it's not on the list of 3D accelerated drivers in XFree86 4.0.

I've been watching Diamond's Monster Fusion cards on Ebay in the last
couple weeks. $30-40, AGP or PCI based, w/16M of memory. It's got a
Voodoo Banshee chipset which is supported by Xfree86 4.0's 3D
acceleration. Check the list of supported chipsets here, under
Supported Hardware, http://www.xfree86.org/4.0/DRI.html.
