T-1s are the line. Our company t-1 is voice only. we discussed with bell about using a few channels for data but they wanted way too much per month. you have a fixed charge per month for the line and then you get charges for what service you have on it (on top of the hardware) allot of isps use a fixed price but some charge by usage. for voice you need nice contracts for the service which usual involves a set fee with allowances and charges for going past them and for long distance. > Eh... you and some other people are confusing me. It can carry voice data or both. > now does the mean that we CAN in fact do what I was talking about... It's possible but not price effective, especialy for small bussiness. The phone companies i've dealt with will only split the data off of the t-1 to their own data services. if you split off 15 lines or so for voice and have a few broken off for data you'll probably end up with a bill of at least a few grand. If thats ok with you you'll need to go through allot of runaround. most of the sales ppl at lucent are just that sales ppl. they don't know what they are selling. ( get paperwork on everything they promise cause otherwise you'll be promised the sun and stars and get dumpster instead. If you want a more reasonable solution go dsl and a CO based phone system. no hardware for you to buy and the phone company gives you free install. the bill is 20 a month or something but you can get rollover and lots of other features with it. if your a bit bigger dsl and some sort of digital phone system installed in the building. Thats my 2 cents.
