No. I can. And it might work for the user turgon. But it's only a
partial solution; what about other users?

That ... really doesn't seem right. Having to hack the kernel to mount a
vfat partition rw. I mean, not everyone can/does hack the kernel to do
what on the face of it seems to be a non-unexpected thing - mounting a
partition rw.
 
I'll keep looking.
