The presentation (near as I can tell) is NOT aimed at current Linux users (or not primarily aimed at them, anyway). Consider the phrase "considering this type of technology" in the announcement - it's to showcase Linux in a SAN environment. It's extremely difficult to avoid Word (or, more properly, the Word file format) in a business environment, not when close to 90% of businesses use this format for their documents. And it's a presentation aimed at businesses. So don't get too bent out of shape about a file format. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Turner" <novalis@novalis.org> To: <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2001 10:43 AM Subject: Re: [PLUG] John "MAD DOG" Hall in Philadelphia 10/10 (fwd) > Wow, that's fabulous - an invite to a Linux event in Microsoft Word format. > > Why should we take what these people have to say seriously if they don't even > know that we need to *avoid* Word? > > > Chuck Peters wrote: > > > > This looks like an interesting meeting.
