Antiword also doesn't handle a lot of Word features, nor all the different flavors of Word. It is, however, a nice product if you can live with it's limitations. It's a LOT better to use the scripts that come with wvware to convert to PS, PDF, TeX, etc.



Microsoft provides a free Word Viewer(2) which unfortunately only runs
under windows.  But if you have a windows partition lying around, it's
a good way to read the odd Word doc without all the bloat.  It would
be real cool if it ran under Wine, but I've never tested it.


It should run fine under Wine, given the correct DLL's.
