You should be able to boot directly from the CD. At some point in the
install process, you will have a chance to either re-format the entire disk;
re-format just certain partitions; etc. If your /home is on a separete
partition from the rest, you can save that, but should probably (I think)
re-format all the others partitions, and install fresh.
