I had Verison DSL through Telocity. It went down every other night.
Sometimes for long periods. I dumped the $50 "service" and went back
to dial-up!
I had Red Hat connected to the gateway. It had a static IP and all I
had to do was connect the Linux PC like I would to any Ethernet
network.
