Unless there have been changes, when you use that line to enable
encrypted passwords, you have to make a seperate password file to
contain Windows password hashes.
The command is looks something like this:
# smbpasswd -a username
Still, that puts the administration at the server end. That's better
than modifying every client's registry and creating a hole in
security.
