The only way to really rectify the situation is to start writing and calling 
these companies, telling them what you want.  If there is enough interest 
then they will start selling Linux Desktops/Laptops.  If you are all sitting 
here talking about it, they will have no idea about your interest in it.  I 
say you need to start talking to upper management.  Call and keep asking for 
someone in charge.  Write to Michael Dell if need be.
