Re: [PLUG] Re: Hardware Recommendations

If you still want to stick with using another case, especially if you have an extra laying around. I would recommend running a bonding wire between the two cases to ground the two chasis together. I would not rely on the ground prong at the cord and power strip. This is fairly simple. Just drill a hole and fasten a piece of solid wire with a green ground screw. All at home depot for less than 5 dollars. If you want to buy another case. Computergate has a full tower AT form factor for around 12 dollars plus shipping. I know I am stepping back a few years with the AT case, However some folk still utilize obsolete equipment.

May I suggest that since you really only need the CD when you're installing that you just open up the case, borrow an IDE CD ROM from another computer, plug the CD ROM and IDE into your open case (you may want to use some anti-static bags if you have them to create a rest for your loose CD Drive). Install. When you are done, remove the CD Drive and ribbon cable. Close your case. Done, cost $0.

If you do want to spend money I suggest either replacing your case (as I think someone else did) or buying another computer, youc an buy a used PII on EBay for about $100 plus shipping. A two unit Monitor switch should run about $30 at a show.
