I don't under stand what this is saying, but in my experience, I have used dd w/o no options to make a disk image of a cdrom, and it only made it the size I needed. A 30M bootable cd wound up as 30M w/ dd if=/dev/cdrom of=mycd.iso Sorry, if this insults anyone's intelligence or I'm not responding to what I thought I read.
