What resolution are you trying to run at? And why do you need to specify
modelines at all? The need for modelines in the config file for X went
away a while back for most cases. I haven't had to do that for TNT, TNT2
or my current geforce3 ti500. Are you using the nv driver or the nvidia
driver?
