It depends: What is too much money? What is too little performance? What version of solaris do you want to run? etc. If you just want a minimally working machine with solaris 7, the IPXs like I use for little servers are great. If you want a minimal workstation, I would get at least a sparc 10 or 20. If you want something to run modern versions of solaris and go GUI work, I would get an ultra30, ultra60, or blade. If you want a current low-end server, get a netra. If you want big iron that's old and cheap, geta "sparcCenter".
