Re: [PLUG] Buying a Sparc

It depends:
What is too much money?
What is too little performance?
What version of solaris do you want to run?

etc.

If you just want a minimally working machine with solaris 7, the IPXs like
I use for little servers are great.

If you want a minimal workstation, I would get at least a sparc 10 or 20.

If you want something to run modern versions of solaris and go GUI work, I
would get an ultra30, ultra60, or blade.

If you want a current low-end server, get a netra.

If you want big iron that's old and cheap, geta "sparcCenter".

New versions of linux will run well on most all of these things.
