It's not a Linuxism, it's a RedHat-ism:

RH's /mnt/cdrom irritates me to no end, since /cdrom is so much easier
to tab-complete; two characters, and away you go.  Oh well...

(Yes, I know it's easy enough to change.  That's not the point.)
