Re: [PLUG] cdrom mounting

Fred K. Ollinger:
If something breaks, I'd just symlink both of them together.

I would symlink /mnt/cdrom to /cdrom as debian still employs /cdrom.

Not to be pendantic, but the change b/c /cdrom to /mnt/cdrom is not a
_linux_ choice, but a distro default intall choice, and IMHO, not a big
deal, either way, as one could just create the dirs that they need. If you
use rh, then you can get kickstart to fix this for you if it turns out to
be a headache.

I used to use symlinks for all kinds of solutions, I've been somewhat cured by the later versions of tar when dealing with BZIP2 files, it seems to just ignore symlinks, ah the joy and fun if I forget this little problem, and for the record, the howto's for newbies list /mnt/cdrom as the proper choice. I realize that for most situations
a symlink works, but I'm just plain getting too frustrated to correct every little thing that goes wrong. Don't even get me started on RPMs that write hither, thither and yon without regard to what exists.
