I'd also prefer to get closer to the bone -- eventually Verizon will be able to cut out the middle people unless the political climate changes drastically (which would be good, too). And as a telco, they could see (though they don't now) net connectivity as really an extension of telephony, without the portal sites, the attempts to use the client base in some marketdroid way.
