Re: [PLUG] Memory hardware questions

my question was, doing a price/performance analysis, is spending $160 to get 128 MB worth doing over spending $80 to get 96 MB. I mentioned

Don't bother. For $160 you could be well on your way to a system generations ahead of your current system. Go to http://www.pricewatch.com and look at memory, CPU, and mobo prices. $29 will get you a 950Mhz AMD Duron CPU (Durons work very well). ATX cases go for about $40 at a computer show. You can easily find a mobo for less than $91, maybe with built-in audio and video. That's $160 for new core components instead of a little bit of RAM for a old dust box.

You could get 256MB of PC2100 DDR RAM for around $42 at http://www.crucial.com if you catch a special. Again, much better than $160 for 128MB of much slower RAM.

Just think about it.
