Fred, FYI, SuSE specifically recommends that newer users NOT try recompiling their own kernels. I am warned against this twice, I believe, in the printed documentation. Unsurprising, then, that they give you no help on how to do so (7.2 Personal). This is not to say that the warning stopped me from trying, and eventually producing a usable result, but this was done without any assistance from SuSE.
