[PLUG] reading old jpeg format?

I have an image from my former life as a Mac user. Neither gimp nor
ImageMagick knows how to open it.

I mailed to it my brother, a Mac user, who said:

> jpeg. Old format, if there is such a thing, since jpegViewer knows
> it, but ImageViewer (part of QT) doesn't without some coaxing.

Now, he's offered to translate it to a more standard format for me,
but, as a matter of pride, I'd like to figure it out myself if I
can. Already I'm upset that I couldn't figure it out myself.

Anyone have any advice?

For those who are curious, the file begins with a lot of null
characters before going on to the below (emacs hexl mode). Running the
file through strings produces nothing of apparent interest. I'm
guessing it's some proprietary compression scheme.
