A friend has just presented me with a new-in-the-box copy of Quake III for linux. (Sadly, he was able to buy it for $1.99, though I guess I'm about to benefit from others' misfortune.) I recall hearing that Loki's install scripts often weren't very "clean", scattering stuff everywhere across your filesystem. Has anyone had any experience with this, and is there anything I could do in advance to reduce the mess? I am running Libranet 2.0 (Debian-based). Maybe I'm revealing my ignorance but is there any way to "squeeze" QIII into a .deb (like checkinstall does for tarballs)? I also have my old SuSE partition still around, which I could try installing it on first, but I'm not sure what that would get me.
